My name is Jantina Boelens.
Welcome to my website.
I invite you to look at my paintings and ceramics.
The sun colors the sky gold and orange.
Blossom awakens on the whimsical branches of the old tree.
Light and dark colors come together in a dance.
From this mood, in my studio, I eagerly and inspiredly begin a new painting.
Sometimes I also feel challenged to work on an older piece. This work has been with me for a long time. It is familiar, but no longer satisfies me. It gives me the inspiration to start working on it again. It challenges me to revise it, to add to it.
I find inspiration in my daily environment, in nature, atmosphere and emotions. Stories, fairy tales and myths also provide me with captivating images to entrust to the canvas.
I look for an exciting structure and use light, shadow and different moods. I also paint many layers on top of each other. Applying the layers transparently creates a deepened, colorful image. Light plays through them.
New materials and techniques entice me to take the next step.
Much of my work is abstract, impressionistic and partly figurative.
In addition to working with paint and brushes, I also enjoy working with clay.
Looking for the concave and convex shapes, for the open spaces and planes that are created. The play of light and dark appears under my hands on clay objects and sculptures.
Nature is again a great source of inspiration, helping to give shape and color to the ceramics formed by my hands.
